Barbara Kennedy - Premium Artist |
Barbara Kennedy's life of art began early. When she was in the third grade, her teacher sent her home with instructions to, 'give this to your mother.' It was a painting Barbara had created and on the back was a note reading, 'Barbara has a very strong sense of color and design.' That strong sense of color and design are still prominent in her work today, whether she is painting portraits of people or flowers or her more spiritual work. In her portrait paintings, Barbara not only captures a likeness of the person, but attempts to catch the mood or personality of the person in his or her personal setting. |

Growing up in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Barbara took every art class available to her in public school and received the Arno Art Award when she graduated from high school. She continued her studies at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Barbara has continued painting considering herself mostly self-taught. Painting, primarily in oil and acrylics, has been the focus of her art career, which has also included jewelry and textile design, as well as musical performance.
