Betty Sommerville ’s first career was graphic design, but her passion for drawing has led to a second career as a printmaker.

Her eye for detail and focus on composition, something learned over the years as a commercial artist, now serve as the foundation for her prints. Her skill in drawing is particularly suited for stone lithographs. This medium involves drawing on large, flat stones which are then etched and inked, and prints are pulled by hand on a lithographic press. Betty has exhibited her work in galleries in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and Japan. Her prints are in corporate and private collections in Canada, the USA, Europe and Australia.
