Brian Buckrell - Premium Artist |
Brian retired from the University of Guelph (veterinary medicine) in 2001 and relocated, with his wife Cathy, to Comox B.C. He took a few art classes and soon fell in love with painting. In 2004, he designed a five-year skills-based program of applied-learning working with 25 acclaimed artists in Canada and the US. In 2007, he invested in full time study at the Jeffrey Watts Atelier in Encinitas California, drawing and painting from life. |

Brian now paints full time. His interests are figurative and landscape. Brian's paintings are reflective of his love of the outdoors, traveling and agriculture. The more he paints the more Brian's work moves towards an impressionistic interpretation. Abstracting (the artists ability to draw out the essence of the subject) is the goal for his development - but it's a long road of work and artistic risk-taking.
Brian has won numerous completions and awards for both his studio and plein air paintings. He is represented by galleries on Vancouver Island, in Alberta and Ontario.
Brian and Cathy have decided to leave Vancouver Island and move back to Ontario to be closer to their families.
