Cross Trinity - Premium Artist |
In defiance of being artistically categorized, Cross Trinity draws upon his multi-racial heritage as a ground for mixing imagery. He works abstractly and rejects representation as being too singular an expression. Yet, Trinity's paintings are defined in part by a past experience as an operating room technician. Some of his lines could be mistaken for nerve networks; while islands of color may be disguised as a cellular mass or pool of fluid. We, as spectators, are viewing cross-sections, much like medical slides of microscopic worlds. |

Cross Trinity works with layers, painting stratums of color, which at times are both translucent and erosive. He seems to be cutting into the interior of the canvas, drawing out the delicacy of what lies beneath. Currently, he is working on a series that incorporates Japanese silver leaf. This acts as skin upon the surface of the painting, intermingling with vibrant shades of reds, greens and violets. The metallic leaf, as light as a feather, contrasts nicely with the harshness of steel that the artist witnessed during his youth.
