David Oleski - Premium Artist

David Oleski lives and works in the wooded hills of West Chester , Pennsylvania. His traditional still-life oil paintings provide varying experiences depending on the viewer's distance from the work. Up close, they are an abstract buzz of brushwork and color, yet at a distance they become cohesive and correct observations of light and space. His website features an informative studio journal, an online gallery and a full motion video camera broadcasting each painting session from the studio.

With a tendency toward the academy tradition of realism, David Oleski creates bold renderings of the objects of his world with gesture and accuracy. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Maryland Institute, College of Art, and continues to apply his education in an ongoing series of simple studies, day after day. He currently exhibits in galleries and outdoor art festivals across most of the United States.

David Oleski Artist Statement:
In retrospect, looking over the final images of the past three days it really does seem as though I've barely made any progress on this piece from one day to the next. I would love to be able to figure out the key to making a painting session consist of nothing but positive steps forward, with every mark being a constructive element toward resolving an image. Instead it seems as though more marks are scraped off than are left in place, and each mark is only a reference for what color and brushstrokes will eventually exist in that same place. The lessons I'm learning are subtle and profound, and hopefully it all adds up to something.
