His art and music come from a place deep in the heart of Northern Ontario where the land is alive with colours that are bright, bold and powerful. He paints and sketches on the land and from memories stored over many summers and winters spent fishing the waters of the Lake Superior region. His paintings can be found in private collections here in Canada, the USA and other parts of the world. An accomplished musician and songwriter Charbonneau has recorded seven albums of Folk Music in the last ten years. His music has been featured in nature videos and art studies. His album 'Wildwood/Through Tom's Eyes' was praised by Charles C. Hill curator of Canadian art at the National Gallery of Canada as an 'outstanding tribute to the art and culture of Tom Thomson'.

A stand of young birch trees desperately clinging to a rocky outcrop, the quiet of a sheltered bay, the wind moving the colours on the maple trees, the song of the loon echoing the mystery and magic of a remote wilderness, all these elements find their way on his canvasses, sketches and songs. A true celebration of this incredible fragile creation.

Don still works as a wilderness fishing guide during the summer months. He continues to tour with his 'One Man Traveling Art and Music Show'. This year he will be conducting an art and music workshop 'Painting and Singing Lake Superior' in Pukaskwa National Park, August 16-21, 2012.
