A Vancouver based artist of Ukrainian origin produces work of great originality, in which there is a strong release of emotion and a strangely captivating balance of abstraction and figuration. In her early works Elena often focused on religious subjects, and still the signs and symbols of Slavonic Icon continue to evoke feelings and memories of old time.
