Frances Knueppel is a painter who depicts her reaction to life. An Art Critic said, "Fran describes the world she observes in allegorical vignettes, placing people in situations to which we react." A long time painter in all mediums, Fran feels a painting should be strong enough to make the viewer pause, have enough to say to make him linger, and be painted well enough to withstand the passage of time. |

A native of Houston, TX, Frances Knueppel received a BFA from the University of Houston From 1982-1998, she made Birmingham, AL home and is past president and signature member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama. Articles about her have appeared in Birmingham Magazine, the Birmingham News, and Alabama Magazine. Fran was twice selected as one of the South’s outstanding woman painters, first by the National Women's Caucus for Art in Washington, DC and by Hearthstone I, an invitational show of works by 12 Southern Women. Her work may be seen in numerous museums and collections throughout the country.
