Grace Schlesier has been painting professionally for over 30 years. A loose and painterly Impressionist, communicating an idea, Schlesier is nationally recognized for her images of pastoral landscapes and the many moods of the sea.

A transplanted New Yorker, Schlesier currently makes her home in Southern California. Her art education includes the Art Students League of New York and the Scottsdale Artists School of Arizona, studying with artists such as David Leffel, Scott Christensen, Joe Abbrecia, and Joyce Pike. She is a Signature Member of American Impressionist Society and the National Academy of Professional Plein Air Painters. Membership also includes Oil Painters of America, the California Art Club and Laguna Plein Air Painters.

She has been invited to participate in many juried exhibitions and museum shows, a selected few are - Top 100 in Arts for the Parks, The Peppertree Invitational, American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America National and Regional, California Art Club, various shows at the Salmagundi in NYC, Salon International in TX, a show in Florence, Italy, as well as exhibitions at the Tweed Museum in Duluth, MN, the Springville in Utah, San Diego's Museum of History and also at Museums in Arizona, the Wickenburg and Phippen, are a few highlighted shows of her long career.

This past year Schlesier's painting Light and Shadow was selected for Paint America Top 100, which is a traveling show currently being shown at museums and galleries across the US; International Artist's magazine chose her painting Trade Winds as a Finalist and published her winning painting in their June 08 issue. Her painting, Reflection has just been selected out of 1,300 paintings to be included in this years Salon International 2010 with a show at Greenhouse Gallery this spring in Texas.

Linscott and Dull published her paintings in books such as “Art of the American West”. International Artists Magazine published her work and how she creates in their out of print publication How Did You Paint That? – 100 Ways to Paint the Landscape. She was featured artist in Skywest, Delta and United airlines in-flight magazine, using her painting, Return of the Swallows on their cover in 07. Passport Magazine of Santa Barbara and Plein Air Magazine carried feature stories about her life and work in 2004 and 06.

This year two new volumes with Schlesier’s paintings are Dust on My Shoes~Sun on My Shoulders, a hard cover, coffee table book, included stories about her paintings en plein air and is available at Amazon.com. The second publication is, The Best in Oil Painting Vol II includes two pages of her seascapes and landscapes. Schlesier is listed in AskArt.com, the Artists Blue Book and various other Internet search sites.

Villas and Verandas Gallery in San Juan Capistrano, CA; Village Frame and Gallery in Montecito, CA; and Renate Fine Art in Carmel, CA represent Grace Schlesier.

Currently the artist is Artist in Residence at the San Pasqual Winery Tasting room in La Mesa where she demonstrates her painting skills some Fridays - mid-afternoon and early evening. Grace teaches classes and is available for critiques
