Through the years, Hope Barton's etching process has evolved to include fewer plates and more hand coloring. Also, she added the process of monotypes which became an underpainting for acrylic on paper. Thus, the transition was made to acrylic painting on canvas. After closing the gallery, Hope became involved with the plein painting movement that has resurfaced internationally. She has painted in 'paint outs' all over the state. It has always been Hope Barton's goal to create work that is technically proficient with interest and lasting appeal. Her landscapes and water scenes are peaceful reflections of her personal observations of Florida's quiet places.
