Jackie Lee - Premium Artist |
'I have an early memory of my father drawing horses' heads for me. I was two years old. Other than that, assuredly, there is no artistic ability on either side of my family background. It is therefore extremely surprising to everyone, especially me, when I began to paint after I retired. I knew absolutely nothing about it and just jumped right in. I am essentially self-taught, with the aid of instructional books and videos.' |

'I like to think my paintings are interesting and peaceful to look at and convey my love of nature. They don't carry a hidden message, they don't explore a dark part of my youth and they're not unhappy in any way. The large atmospheric oil paintings actually paint themselves, I have no pre-determined knowledge of what they are going to look like, but after starting the process the brushes go where they want to go. It's always a surprise to me how they turn out, but I certainly credit Divine Intervention, without which I wouldn't have had even a remote chance of success.'
