My passion lies in painting with acrylics. Although I have taken workshops, I am mostly self-taught. I do use my own photographs for reference, but my work is mainly from my imagination and memories. Often when I start a painting, I have only a small idea of where and how it will end up. For me, the fun is in the decision-making as I go along with one idea leading to another. I often paint in series that opens up new directions and symbols that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.
Although it's not my intention, some people refer to my paintings as a type of folk art which may be because of it's simplicity. I love colour and in all of my creative endeavours, from fashion to home decorating, it has always been a major component. When I have worked on fairly realistic paintings, I take time out and spend time experimenting with abstract work where colour and imagination play a big part. I am almost a daily painter and if I must take time off, I get back to it as soon as I can. Life without painting just wouldn't be the same!
I live in Georgetown, Ontario and have belonged to a painting group called Innerscapes for the past dozen years. We have had many group shows and I have also been affiliated with a number of galleries in Ontario. Our website is listed below.
