He is particularly drawn to the landscape. Trees swaying in a fresh breeze, the morning light casting shadows onto butter-colored stone, the assertive clap of a boat sail catching the wind, a quiet harbor at sunset - these are the moments Jim tries to capture in his paintings. He has always been drawn to the luminosity, transparency, and spontaneity of watercolor, and currently paints exclusively in this medium. Jim's paintings have won many awards in local and regional exhibits, and can be found in private collections in twenty-seven states and six countries, as well as in the permanent collection of the Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs. He is a signature member of Mid-Southern Watercolorists. His paintings are on display at Artists Workshop Gallery in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and occasionally in other regional venues. Jim teaches multi-day Watercolor Painting Workshops and a seminar titled Design for Painters. He currently lives in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
