Joan Heiden is currently painting and making monotypes using encaustic paints and mediums. She makes brightly colored monotypes on silk that reflect her love of nature and the Southwest. Joan mounts these prints on panels and often applies more than one print on a piece to achieve depth. She then applies clear encaustic medium to the panel. Joan Heiden's encaustic paintings also tend to be brightly colored. Some are representational while others are more abstract and organic feeling.
