'Eve' is a series delving into the process of becoming. We are all faced with the unforeseen. I encourage accidents within my work and I appreciate the challenge. I often begin with molding paste to texturise the surface followed by a mixture of gel, gesso and the set of complementary colours. I add in thin individual films. select an image that speaks to me, usually a landscape, and I choose figures, for the most part from family photos, to enhance the connection between all creation in all time. Then I incorporate ink, graphite powder, metallic paint, or watercolour pencil, the layers begin. Often, I add pieces of tissue paper impregnated with washes of acrylic paint and allowed to dry in intriguing patterns. Once I have found an appealing balance I finish by adding a personal poem and a psalm written bilingually in felt and metallic pen throughout the piece. Occasionally I use the writing to unify the work but generally it remains hidden, a mystery. It's all about the journey.
