'My artistic motivation comes from subjects that I have personally been a part of or subjected to - specifically ranch and rodeo, wildlife and marine and landscape, having owned and operated a salmon fishing lodge off British Columbia's beautiful mountain-studded coastline for many years as well as being an assistant big game guide in British Columbia's Rocky Mountains. I have also drawn a great deal of inspiration from being involved in cowboying ventures and ranch associations. That background alone would be enough to fill ones subject search, however lately I have broadened my subject matter to include miscellaneous.
In my studio I will work on four to five artworks at any given time, usually all in various stages of completion and subject matter. I believe that my true understanding of artistic self expression comes best with past personal experience, coupled with composition, subject and color. This provides me with the realistic appearance which I strive to attain in my art.'
