Leslie Anderson Artist Statement: For me, painting is an analogy for life: a balance of risk and control, knowing when to go with the flow, knowing when to stop. I started painting several years ago as an antidote to my crazy job in high tech, never dreaming it would change my life. Trained in watercolor, I now work mostly in acrylics and mixed media to apply my love of saturated color and transparent layering to larger canvases. Rooted in the Maine landscape tradition, my intent is to capture the essence of remembered moments by working quickly and stripping out detail.
Recently my husband and I have moved to Maine. Since then, I have established my studio/gallery, Art @ the Flower Farm, at our flower farm in Sedgwick Maine. I've had numerous solo shows, made many new art-related friends, and sent many, many paintings off to new homes in private and corporate collections around the world. Enjoy! And please share your thoughts about my art with me.
