'My intention is to invite the viewer into my painting to wander through the experience that I have created. I try to provide a time of quiet reflection to put aside the stress of life.'
When I retired from my work life I searched for a new interest that would last me throughout my senior years. Because I had always had an interest in the arts and particularly in watercolours, I enrolled at the Alberta College of Art in 1994 for a course in watercolour which opened a whole new world of opportunity for me to create beautiful pieces of art. My style is eclectic and ranges from realistic to contemporary. I have a strong connection with nature that I express through the transparency of watercolour and in the bold colours and textures of acrylic mediums. I have been influenced by the work of the masters, especially Van Gogh, as well as the techniques and styles of the more contemporary artists Georgia O'Keefe, the Group of 7, Robert Genn and others. I continue my education by attending classes and workshops and I participate in shows and exhibitions in my area. My work continues to evolve and provides countless hours of enjoyment and satisfaction for me. What was to be a hobby has become an avocation. I am fortunate to have traveled to many interesting places in the world with my husband and the photographs from our journeys provide a wealth of reference and inspiration for me. My paintings are exhibited in galleries and are enjoyed in Canada and the United States.
