Neil called the school 'The Fred Dolan Art Academy,' after a dear departed friend. The academy's mission is to help young Bronx artists build their portfolios so they can go to Art College. Since its inception, 23 students have graduated from the academy, all 23 going to college with scholarships. They've been accepted at some of the finest colleges in the country: Dartmouth, the Rhode Island School of Design, NYU, USC, the Art Institute of Chicago, the School of Visual Arts, FIT, and many more. But despite this unprecedented success, the academy's funding has been severely cut. So Neil wrote and illustrated 'AL and TEDDY,' a picture book about the power of art to transform children's lives. Every penny earned from book sales will be used to purchase pencils, erasers, watercolors, easels, and healthy lunches for the academy's students. It's our hope that you'll help spread the word. Please tell your friends and colleagues that every time someone purchases a copy of 'AL and TEDDY,' they're supporting the young artists of the Bronx.
