My art is inspired by what I see around me - people, everyday objects, the occasional animal and the landscape - subjects that allow me creative opportunities to explore colour, shape and line in personal, often intuitive ways. The decision to paint a subject, either as an iconic image rendered in a classical style or re-imagined and executed in an expressive manner is resolved through process and experimentation. I paint mostly in acrylic, but often use other media, such as pastel and collage papers, when it feels right. When painting I try to work quickly and take risks but I also paint slowly and try to make things perfect. I try to follow the 'rules', but sometimes they just have to be broken.
I have exhibited my work in private galleries during the last fifteen years and have sold extensively to private and corporate collectors throughout Canada, and in France and Argentina.
