She sketched family members at the kitchen table, beginning a life of creative expression. These days she primarily expresses her creativity in acrylic painting, having experienced watercolour and pastel, lost wax silver casting and wood sculpting. Rose-Marie's unique style is a result of constant study since the mid-'80s, including the Emily Carr University of Art and Design and Capilano University, Vancouver; Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; and in workshops with accomplished artists. The artists who have been her inspiration are Caravaggio, Degas, O'Keeffe, Hopper and Gavazzi.
Rose-Marie is dedicated to creating encouraging work, heightened by her desire to offer people from all walks of life images that bring them rest. 'I have always been attracted to the 'corners of our world', vignettes of everyday life with dramatic light, colour and shadow'. A studio painter and accomplished colourist, she enjoys sharing images of her beloved West Coast, the Rockies, Mexico and beyond.
Most recently juries have selected her works for shows at the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), Vancouver; the Sidney Fine Arts Show; Kelowna's Art Visions; and the Silk Purse and Ferry Building Art Galleries, West Vancouver. Her works are in private collections across Canada and in Washington, California, South Carolina and Sweden.
