Winnipeg appears as a background in many of her paintings but not as a literal portrait. She is more interested in capturing a feeling of the street, like the images and activities that one may see from the window of a moving car or bus. There's a sense of recognition and familiarity, but with a softening of the details and rough edges, a city that is looked at with a forgiving and loving eye, the way parents look at their children. Her newest work deals with the power an artist has to reconfigure, reinvent a landscape.
