Born in Nova Scotia as a member of a military family, Sharon moved frequently. She continued this pattern in her adult life, living on three Canadian coasts and in seven provinces and territories. Her love of travel has taken her to over half the globe as well as on adventures such as crossing the South Atlantic Ocean as one of a crew of four on a 52 foot sailboat. |
In her past life, Sharon was active in the health care industry, having obtained a Master's of Science degree in 1990. She began painting seriously in 2007 after taking early retirement.
Sharon is represented by Gallery 223 in Nanaimo, The Gallery at Mattick's Farm in Saanich, and Sales and Rental programs at the Nanaimo Art Gallery and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. She has won Federation of Canadian Artists' Awards of Excellence for her paintings 'Heading Northwest II', 'Frozen Face III', and 'Harmony'. Her paintings have been on display, among other venues, at the Victoria International Airport, and the Victoria Conference Centre. She has also exhibited her work at the Toronto Art Expo, Canada's largest art venue.
Sharon is a member of the 'Al Frescoes', a group of plein air Victoria painters. She has been named the Inn at Laurel Point 'Artist in Residence' for the month of June, 2011.
